Social Ecology SPOP Assessment Surveys

Below are the assessment surveys to be taken during SPOP orientation classes Summer 2008. All orientations are 10am through 3pm.

Change of Major Information for New Students

New Freshman

New freshman wanting to change majors to any major in the School of Social Ecology or College of Health Sciences may do so before classes begin in Fall. To change majors students are encouraged to attend the Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP) advising session for the major they are interested in changing to. New freshman can change to the new major during the SPOP advising session they attend.

If you have already attended SPOP and decided to change majors afterward you can do so by following these steps:

Public Health Practicum

Public Health Practicum (PH 195W) is an 8-unit required course for those majoring in Public Health Policy or Public Health Science. The course allows students to gain hands-on experience through an approved site at an organization in the field of public health. Practicum requires that each student interview and select a site through the online catalog of approved Public Health sites. The catalog includes sites that have agreed to accept, train and supervise Public Health students in the ongoing activities of the organization. Students must

Commencement Speaker Application

The School of Social Ecology welcomes you to apply to be a Student Speaker at this year's Commencement Ceremony. The application deadline is Friday, April 18th, 2008.

To apply, students are asked to complete the Commencement Speaker Application, attach a draft of your intended speech (limited to 3 - 5 minutes in length) and turn it in to the Social Ecology Student Services Office in SE1, Room 102. The applications will be reviewed and final candidate selections will be made. All final candidates will be asked to present their intended speech to the School Awards Committee. The Committee will then choose the Student Speakers for the 2008 Commencement Ceremony.

Many of the Major requirements in Applied Ecology require prerequisites. Please refer to the University's General Catalogue and the Schedule of Classes for current prerequisites:

MATH:
Math 2A-2B-7 Calculus/Basic Statistics

Welcome Week 2008!

All new students are invited to attend the Anteater Involvement Fair BBQ on Monday, September 22. This free event, immediately following the various Dean's Welcome programs, will occur in Aldrich Park. The fair will showcase over 300 UCI clubs, extraordinary student talent, exciting displays, and a great BBQ. New students need only bring their student ID for entrance.
