Use this petition to waive or substitute course work or breadth requirements; petition UCI courses towards a major/minor; waive the UCI Residency Requirement (take courses within your last 36 units before graduation); or request any general exceptions. Course Waiver Petition [Download/Print Form]

Use this petition to waive coursework from another college or institution towards a Social Ecology major/minor (PSB, CLS, EAD, AE, SE etc) or for UCI breadth requirements. Equivalency is determined by transferability to UCI and by review of course materials by the appropriate faculty/department of the course you are waiving. Use your browsers "print" function to print the form. Then fill out the form, attach the appropriate material(s) for review (syllabus, notes, papers, description), submit to the Social Ecology Student Services Office in Rm 102 Social Ecology Bldg. I. Notification of decision is sent via email.

Request for use of a 199 for Upper-Division Major Credit [Web Form]

Use this form to petition a Social Ecology 199 (Special Studies) course towards upper-division major credit. Criteria for submitting this petition include 1) class must be taken for a grade; 2) class required a written paper; and 3) class was instructed by a Social Ecology faculty (not lecturer). A maximum of two SE 199 courses may count towards upper division major credit. Complete ALL the information on the form, click on the "I agree and submit this form" button, print the form, obtain faculty signtaure, and return to the Social Ecology Student Services Office. Notification of decision is sent via email after the printed form is received in our office.

Request for use of H190 for Upper-Division Major Credit [Web Form]

Use this form to petition H190 (Honors Research in Social Ecology) towards upper-division major credit. Criteria for submitting this petition include 1) class must be taken for a grade; 2) class required a written paper (e.g., term paper, formal research presentation at an academic research conference or at UROP); and 3) sponsoring faculty is a Social Ecology faculty in the area the student is petitioning. Submit one web form per H190. Only H190A and H190W may be petitioned to count for upper division credit. Complete ALL the information on the form, click on the "I agree and submit this form" button, print the form, obtain faculty signtaure, and return to the Social Ecology Student Services Office. Notification of decision is sent via email after the form is received in our office.
