GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH/LAB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Research in this lab focuses on how certain stressful situations influence the body; we examine how stressful situations characterized by social evaluation and rejection influence physiological responses (such as cardiovascular, neuroendocrine and immune outcomes). We also look at the relationship between specific emotional and physiological changes during stressful situations; for example, how negative feelings about the self (like shame, embarrassment) are associated with physiological reactivity.
2. Students will assist with experimental studies examining cortisol responses to laboratory stressors. Students will be involved in all aspects of the projects, including recruiting and screening participants, assisting with the experimental sessions, and data entry. There are also opportunities to be trained in the use of psychophysiology equipment.
