JOINT ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN PSYCHOLOGY & LAW (PSB/CLS)


The University of California, Irvine invites applications for a joint position in Psychology and Law at the level of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will join the Department of Criminology, Law & Society and the Department of Psychology & Social Behavior. Applicants should have a record of successful research in an area that links psychology and law. Candidates must have a Ph.D., and preference will be shown for those with a J.D.as well. Candidates must have an active program of research and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Evidence of success in securing extramural funding to support research and graduate students is desired.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CRIMINOLOGY, LAW AND SOCIETY (CLS)


The Department of Criminology, Law and Society at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a position at the assistant professor level to begin July 2008 (teaching duties to begin Fall, 2008). Substantive areas are open, but preference will be given to candidates whose work lies at the intersection of criminology and law and society. PhD required. For an appointment at an advanced Assistant Professor rank, evidence of success in securing extramural funding to support research and graduate students is desired. The Department of Criminology, Law and Society is one of three departments in the interdisciplinary School of Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine, and our research and teaching programs reflect a strong commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, PSYCHOPATHOLOGY (PSB)


The Department of Psychology and Social Behavior at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. The areas of expertise for the candidate search are affective disorders, psychotic disorders, or co-occurring severe mental illness and substance abuse. The department has a longstanding commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and the application of theoretically-grounded research to social problems.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., a strong record of research, and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching. The department does not offer training in clinical psychology but has a graduate program concentration in psychopathology. Research experience with clinical populations is required, and research experience with interventions is desirable.

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DEVELOPMENT (PSB)

The Department of Psychology and Social Behavior http://www.soceco.uci.edu/psb/ seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in developmental psychology at the beginning associate (with tenure) or late assistant professor level to begin July 2008. Applicants should have a research specialization in cognitive or social development during infancy and/or early childhood (A future search will be conducted in the area of specialization not filled during the current search). The successful candidate’s research agenda should be compatible with our department's emphasis on studying development-in-context by taking into account social and/or cultural circumstances that influence development. Ideally, the candidate’s research should also complement some of the interests of our departmental colleagues who specialize in the other three major areas in our graduate program: social psychology, health psychology, and psychopathology. Candidates must have a Ph.D., and a strong record of research. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching is expected, and a strong record of acquiring extramural funding is highly desirable, especially at more senior levels. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate students, supervising student research, and maintaining a highly productive and innovative program of empirical research.Application materials must be submitted electronically (please refer to the Employment link at the following website for instructions: http://www.seweb.uci.edu/).
