My areas of interest include drug policy reform, innovations in therapeutic jurisprudence, social justice movements, public policy and public organization studies. I am currently living and learning in Lisbon, Portugal courtesy of a Fulbright Student Fellowship where I am collecting dissertation data on Portugal's recent drug law reforms and harm reduction program implementation efforts. I will incorporate this research with earlier work conducted on the implementation and routinization of Proposition 36 in California in order to include a much-needed cross-cultural, comparative perspective to drug law reform. I am active in various political and social movement grassroots efforts that seek to redress inequalities and strengthen democratic participation of marginalized social groups. I am also an active participant in several professional organizations such as the Society for the Study of Social Problems, the American Society of Criminology and the Western Society of Criminology. My mentors include: John Dombrink, Helen Ingram, Val Jenness and Diego Vigil. In my spare time, I can be found thoroughly appreciating and enjoying my privacy.
